Job Loss = Getting Married

If you could choose to be born as an urban women, well then this is the time! Man, they get to have the best of everything. Nah..,this ain’t a gender war. I’m just plain jealous of the options girls have and am thinking what would it be like to have those options.

The present economic scenario got me thinking so. We are seeing a lot of lay-offs but the weaker sex “who panic in adversaries” are cool where as the male bastion who are supposed to “save the damsel in distress” are panicking.

I was witness to a conversation between a group two guys and two girls, who had just been laid off. The excerpts…
Guy1: “Man everything is screwed up, what do I do now? I don’t even know where to start”.
Guy2: “Yeah dude, all plans have gone down the drain, I was planning to bring my parents here and then this happens. Now I don’t even know how to get a VISA to stay in status. Let’s just drink today and think about this issue tomorrow.”
Suddenly one of the girls says: “I was thinking… probably I should get married, anyway my mom has been asking me to for a while and I think I should get married and stay at home for sometime, by then the market will be better and I can start working again.”
Girl2: “I have also been rejecting proposals , but now I’ll just zero in on someone. I think November is a good time. December is the holiday season, so you’ll then also have lots of time to rest and set up the new house.”
The guys are no longer depressed. They are suicidal. What an easy solution these girls have! read their expressions. It’s time that they ended this conversation, they realize, for they have no future plans, and most importantly because they are talking to two highly placed individuals who know exactly what is to be done next.

It is no secret that in today’s world it is easier for women to find jobs. Companies have to maintain an equal male and female employee ratio, and because say 20 years back they didn’t employ as many women as men, you can imagine whose turn it is to get hired. Men need jobs to get married and to have a good life; all that a woman needs is a man with a job. I am not complaining or whining about it, I just thought it was really funny. And don’t feel sorry for us guys for we know the situation and have accepted it and are happy inspite of it.
As I mentioned earlier just attribute this write up to plain jealousy. I just wish I had the choice to say, “I feel like a break and will just stay at home for sometime.”
a friend recently took a break from work. She decided that she needed to rethink her career moves and just quit. While speaking to my parents this came up and I said even I think I need a break. My mom flared up and said, “What have you done in life to take a break? How can you waste the productive years of your life? If she does it then she can afford it, she is a girl and she has a choice."

I am really don't know how you labeled this topic as Fun. This is the most sensitive topic that could enrage a war between the dominant sex (Female) and a weaker sex (Male) in the current generation. Hehehe. Just Kidding. Anyways, the observation was good and there might be a day in future where your wife will scold your daughter when your daughter says "I feel like taking a break". Your wife might add saying "That guy can afford a break but you cannot". Anyways, I wish this will spring up healthy competition and I hope I can stand up to the storm without losing ground completely. Good post, keep going. Good Luck.

By calling it fun, we comfort ourself that we are handling it well.
Forget my daughter, if I have a wife who would allow me to take a break, I will be more then happy. :)
Anyway I am sure you will stay strong and emerge a winner. After all like I always say, you are a man among men
